Since May 2009 IKAB-Bildungswerk is responsible as project management organisation and beneficiary for the MYK4international project, an innovative qualification project in the hotel and catering sector for the increasing of training and employment opportunities of disadvantaged young people through guided learning and working visits in France.
The participants reach us via our project partners Job Centre of the Administrative District Mayen-Koblenz (Jobcenter Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz), Job Centre of the Administrative District Neuwied (Jobcenter Landkreis Neuwied) and Job Centre of the Administrative District Ahrweiler (Jobcenter Landkreis Ahrweiler).
Besides the acquisition of job-specific skills, the participants have the opportunity to develop and deepen within the project their intercultural and social competencies and competence in foreign languages. Essential elements within of the project are regular vocational, personal and social skills checks, as well as language training and intercultural training.
The vocational training in the area of kitchen, service and housekeeping are held in two phases in the greater Bordeaux area in cooperation with our institutional partner INFA. The Gastronomic training centre of the Koblenz Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Gastronomisches Bildungszentrum der IHK Koblenz) is responsible for the preparatory aptitude test, the skills check between the two stays abroad, as well as for the practical final examination.
The project partner Institute for Research in Social Science Mainz (ism - Institut für sozialpädagogische Forschung Mainz) is responsible for the project accompanying transnational exchange of know-how and experiences at expert level between German and French project staff, trainers and stakeholders of the local/regional labour market policy.
The MYK4international project is promoted/funded within the framework of the programme "Integration through exchange" ("IdA - Integration durch Austausch") by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the European Social Fund, the Rhineland-Palatinate State Ministry of Social Affairs, Labour, Public Health and Demography and the Job Centres of the Administrative Districts Mayen-Koblenz, Neuwied and Ahrweiler.
